The work of Christian Tagliavini can be experienced in many ways. Its duality of expressive artistry & meticulously controlled portraits, display a beautifully curated world of sitters posed within the handcrafted clothes made by the artist himself. Set against the backdrop of art history, referencing movements such as the Renaissance & Cubism, he wields his lens after the long complex process of designing, building & making to create his mise en scène.
His are classically formal portraits of the Mannerist style, elegant exemplars of the courtly Medici ideal of the 16th century, his subjects as haughty as they are assured of their position in society. He was Agnolo di Cosimo, known as Il Bronzino, and his work influenced European court portraiture for a century. Not to mention one Swiss-Italian photographer more than half a millennium later...

Peter Lippman was born in Miami and has worked in San Francisco for the last 15 years. His passion [no doubt] is to document his life and experiences through photography (he’s been so doing so since the age of 12) yielding a style that unintentionally combines elements of portraiture, landscape and photojournalism. His life and work have taken him from the beauty of Jerusalem to the deserts outside of Las Vegas; from years of taking images of people to his recent obsession with airplanes and the sky.
